What Is PSA Grading?

PSA grading evaluates the condition of trading cards, assigning a score from 1 to 10. A higher score enhances the card's value, appeal to collectors, and overall marketability.

What Is "Max Value" and "Upcharges"?

PSA charges based on the value of the cards – the higher the value, the higher the grading fee. Maximum value refers to the estimated market value of the card after grading. Market tools such as PriceCharting, TCGPlayer, 130 Point, or eBay (Last Sold Listings) can help gauge a price.

This tier covers cards up to a market value of approximately $800 AUD, as determined by PSA at the time of grading completion.

Upcharges: If PSA determines a card’s value exceeds the initial grading tier, an additional fee for the appropriate tier will be applied. This means your card is worth more – a good problem to have!

We will send a notification, invoice, and evidence if an upcharge is applied. Our upcharge is calculated at 10% of the card’s final declared value, less the grading fee already paid.

Example:

• Final declared value: $2,000 AUD

• 10% of value: $200 AUD

• Less original grading fee: $55 AUD

• Upcharge payable: $145 AUD

This covers GST, additional insurance, and our service fee.

Submission Guidelines & What We Need from You

To ensure your cards are graded safely and efficiently, please follow these requirements:

• Detailed photos – Upload clear images of each card front & back. Multiple cards per photo upload is allowed. Keep additional photos and your own records for future reference, so we can verify and compare with PSA’s records if needed. Make a note of any potential imperfections that may have an impact on your card's grade.

• Grading holders only – Cards must be placed in soft sleeves within a grading holder. We do not handle cards directly. Customers must purchase and package them according to this video guide.

• No prohibited packaging – Avoid using toploaders (except for cards 130pt and thicker), pull tabs, tab-sleeves, post-it notes on the grading holders, tape, or any other adhesives that could damage the card.

Following these guidelines helps protect your cards and speeds up the grading process.

Submission Instructions

Once your order is submitted, you will receive instructions on next steps, so that you know exactly what to do.

Postal Submissions 📦

• Pack your cards securely in soft sleeves and grading holders.

• Use a sturdy, padded envelope or box for shipping.

• Include your printed order confirmation OR clearly write your order number and send it to our designated address.

• Shipping costs to and from Card Bot HQ are not included in the grading fee.

Pick-Up Submissions (Melbourne) 🏙️

• Drop off your cards at our location in soft sleeves and grading holders, with your submission form.

• No extra costs for Melbourne-based drop-offs and pick-ups.

For both submission methods, avoid using excess tape or adhesives that could damage the card. Once your cards reach us, we’ll safely ship them to PSA for grading.
